The End is Nigh My Friends, as Marvel War of Heroes comes to a close.Top Image Courtesy of.For those that don’t know Marvel War of Heroes is an electronic card battle game from DeNA and Marvel Entertainment. To say that the game has a cult following is a drastic understatement. So it is with great sadness that we read the following message message from DeNA that they sent in-game this morning:Marvel War of Heroes ran successfully for three plus years until today when they released the announcement above. Some players noticed the recent trends and aren’t surprised by this while many others were shocked.
Some of the surprised gamers have even started a to keep the game running. Some believed that the game’s decline began when DeNA took control of Mobage.
Cygames, the developer behind the immensely popular Rage of Bahamut card-battler also developed Marvel: War of Heroes so players can. WAR MACHINE - 1994 MARVEL UNIVERSE HOLOGRAM 3 of 4 GREEN. This was on the heels of the closing of DeNA’s GI Joe game closing. For those that didn’t know about the fiasco that was the GI Joe: Battlegrounds closing here are some of the details. The game had lost the licensing for the game- it happens (and is believed to be why War of Heroes is closing) and the company decided not to inform the community. The months leading up to the end the company hosted numerous sales and odd “cash-grab” styled events that made some players question the future. When asked directly about the impending doom of the game, they denied any knowledge that it would be closing. The week before the GI Joe:Battlegrounds was removed from the marketplace, the players were informed- two days after another crazy sale that led to many players dumping hundred of dollars into the game. In the message they admitted that they knew about the end months prior but hoped that these “ cash grab” events and sales would be enough to boost sales to renew the licensing and keep the game alive.

The Marvel universe has spawned a bunch of very interesting games and movies lately and now there will be a new Android title to have fun with soon. The title is called Marvel: War of Heroes and sadly we have not so many details on this title, but at least we have some hints about it. It’s a card game, for startersThis title will integrate DeNA’s social gaming platform (Mobage), meaning it will stay a free to play title. You’ll get to play as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent and team up with various heroes in the Marvel universe and battle the forces of evil. The game features all famous villains and heroes from the Marvel Universe and has an original narrative and artwork from a variety of artists working with Marvel.
Heroes will support leveling up and fusing together for combined abilities, much like the Captain Planet guys.War of Heroes is supposed to debut on October 11th, 2012 on both iOS and Android. If you enter the official site of the game and preregister for it, you will get a special limited edition card to use in the game. For those of you who didn’t understand what the game is about, this is a card game much like Rage of Bahamut, allowing you to build a team of super heroes through a deck of digital cards.
